Thanksgiving Day Football!!
So, to me Thanksgiving really isn't a day for pictures. What to take a picture of? HHHHMMMM ? All of the food you are about to consume? No, you don't want to remember what you did to your body that day! Well, now that I look back on my Thanksgiving this year, I really wish I had the camera! I did some pretty mean stuff to my body! (Not to mention the food I consumed!!)
Kade and Jesalee Smith invited us to play flag football with a bunch of friends. We were not sure if we were going to play but Coleton won out! He really wanted to play. So, we went and of course were late. So, we just jumped in and started to play, without warming up, first mistake!! Then the ball is thrown to me and of course I catch it (very luckily!) and I turn to run and hit a wall! My husband!! Second Mistake! He totally tackled me. He has no sense of softness either! He pretty much just body slammed me. (And for those of you who know Jonathan, know that I am not exaggerating!!) Did I mention we were playing flag football? (I was not his only victim however. Some young guy was showing off and running like a profession running back, so Jonathan, with out taking a step, reached out and grabbed him, and put him down. He was a little shocked when he hit "The Wall"! It was awesome!)
So, the rest of the game I ran on the oppisite side of the field of Jonathan. And, I figured out, if I ran semi-fast, he was to lazy to stay with me!!
I also, discoverd that I had to go guard my nine year old son, to keep him from scoring all of the touch downs!! Coleton caught just about everything that was thrown to him! It was awesome! Even the "long bombs" with other kids gaurding him. I mean, he told me he could catch anything, but, me being the great mom that I am, didn't really believe him! Well, I quickly repented!!
Then I screwed up, the last play of the game, Jonathan runs the ball into the end zone and I thought I would be hilarious and tackle him! Third, Big, mistake! Never tackle a person 100 lbs heavier than you. I jumped on his back and stuck my feet between his legs and pulled him down....ON TOP OF ME! He free fell smack on top of me! I couldn't believe how dumb I was! Did I mention he landed on top of me? What was I thinking? I wasn't! We both laughed and I got up of course a little squished but needed to act just fine, besause it was my stupidity that got me squished!
Needless to say the next day every muscle in my body hurt and I had terrible wip-blash in one side of my neck! We've been married 11 years, you would think I would learn not to try to beat my husband at his own games!!
I wish I had a camera at the football game!

Sounds fun! I totally wanted to go but we had to leave for Burley first thing in the morning :(
Funny! I let my husband and sons play without me, at least when other men in the ward are playing. I think the boys have thrown the football more this year than ever.
OK, thanks so much for the laugh tonight! I heard a lot of that same story from Jesalee - including the OUCH. She said she just hurt for you with the last tackle. She too was so impressed with Coleton and was so happy you guys came. It sounds just a little too physical for me - you go girl!
That's awesome!!!:)
yea, just don't mess with the "wall".... it doesn't matter if you are his wife, sister or child... he will not be taken down!
